Updates on Ultimate Faeries! And Mechanical Monsters rolls on!

Hi all,
Thanks so much for your awesome support of the Ultimate Faeries project! We have lots to announce this week!
Faerie Bestiary (PF2): Layout says they should have the final PDF ready to review in the next day or so. I'll do the final cross-check, and if it's good to go I'll be uploading it to Backerkit for your downloads! If there are any final corrections, we'll make those PDQ and get it up and ready for you! The final count is 264 pages.
Faerie Campaigns (5E): Layout is hard at work rolling all of the artwork into this book. It looks like the final page count on this one will likewise be somewhere between 248-264 pages (books for an offset print run are created in "signatures" that are divisible by 8 pages, basically laid out into a giant single sheet that is then folded and cut into 8-page sections when the book is assembled). Our printer has paused all work for Lunar New Year until the end of the month, so we might press on with the PDF of this or might pivot to #3 on the list and do that one next!
Faerie Bestiary (PF1): I just finished editing and proofing the manuscript for this one today and sent it off to layout! This one grew a LOT in the process and now clocks in at around 130 monsters, including the ones converted from PF2 to PF1! The original idea was for around 60 creatures, so anyone getting this book is getting an amazing deal! As noted above, we'll see where layout is on Faerie Campaigns (5E) and see which book between that one and this one makes the most sense to work on during the Lunar New Year shutdown.
Faerie Campaigns (PF2): This one is still in editing and assembly, but it'll be ready to go to layout once the previous two books are complete.
Switching Editions: Given the recent issues with the Open Gaming License, several backers have contacted me asking to switch their pledge from 5E to PF2, and we're happy to accommodate you. There's not always an equivalent pledge available (notably, the Royal $333 pledge does not have a PF2 equivalent), but to the extent possible we can switch you over if you are among those who are planning a move away from 5E; just let us know ASAP!
Print Proofs Arrived for Faerie Bestiary (5E): We are excited to share the print samples sent to us for review! This includes 16 randomly selected "ozalids" (print finals of pages on the same glossy paper used in the book) to make sure everything looks right, plus a low-res injket "plotter" which is the complete book printed in signatures for us to review - sometimes you spot things on paper that you just don't see on the screen. Take a look at this book beginning to take shape! I'll be reviewing these and sending back any notes for corrections to the printer, and they can get started on these books (including the deluxe version) once production resumes January 30!
Last but not least, Mechanical Monsters! While we are cranking hard to the finish on our remaining books for Ultimate Faeries, one of our other teams has also completed work on Mechanical Monsters, our latest Quickstarter project for DnD 5E and Pathfinder RPG (with bonus add-ons also available for Starfinder). That project is right about the halfway point and is already over $30,000 and climbing, with 140 clockworks, cyborgs, robots, androids, and mechanical fey, fiends, oozes, and more! The 5E version should be ready for you as soon as the KS ends. We added the PFRPG book due to customer demand, and the Word doc is complete and with our layout artist now, so they'll start on that as soon as the 5E book is done. Add-ons like the Alien Bestiary and Alien Codex are already ready to go, and we've got Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds support available too!
Updates and art coming in for the Faerie Bestiary Companion PF1!

Hi all,
Update time!
We are almost finished with the final proofing pass on Faerie Bestiary (PF2) - we just did some corrections on the ohancanu and orruol - but it should be ready in another week or so.
We've been going back and forth with the printer to make sure the cover is just right on Faerie Bestiary (5E) - it's gonna be beautiful so we need to make sure it's perfect! We should have ozalid sample pages to review soon, and we'll send photos with an update when we have them to show off!
Faerie Campaigns (5E) has also gone to layout and looks like the final book will land somewhere around 240-250 pages. We're excited to see the full galley once layout is finished so we can move on to proofing on that book.
Last but not least, we wanted to show off some of the great artwork coming back for the PF2-to-PF1 monster conversions we added as stretch goals for the Faerie Bestiary Companion (PF1)!

We are delighted with the great artwork our team has brought home for this book and hope you love it when the final books arrive!

– Tue, Dec 27, 2022 at 10:45:06 PM
Hi all,
We've sent out the following sets of VTT codes to all backers who have ordered them. If you've added these and your order has been locked (and any add-ons paid), you should be able to download them on Backerkit.
Roll20: A Feast of Flavor 5E, Kingdom Event Cards, Faerie Bestiary 5E
Fantasy Grounds:A Feast of Flavor 5E, Forest Kingdom Campaign Compendium, Forest Kingdom VTT Tokens
We'll be sending out additional VTT keys as those products (including those for Shard and Foundry) are finished and ready for you but wanted to let you know the first wave is already on the way!
Happy New Year to you all!
Order Lock Notice Sent! And a Christmas present for you!
– Thu, Dec 22, 2022 at 03:32:00 AM
We've had a great response with folks jumping in to fill out their surveys, with over 70% of everyone returning them already, so we've sent out the first-wave "lock orders" notice. In 48 hours, those orders that have been submitted will be locked in and we'll charge cards on Friday. Once cards are processed, you'll be able to download your files! That includes the final PDF for Faerie Bestiary 5E!
That's right, this beautiful book is done and will be ready for you in time for Christmas!
A few more quick notes for you!
We have the Roll20 version of Faerie Bestiary 5E ready for you and I've requested a set of code keys to put into Backerkit so you can get those if you've ordered that version! Other VTTs are still in progress.
We are working with our printer to get the print templates set up so they can start the presses rolling soon, but we are excited and delighted to have the first big book completed and ready for you to enjoy in PDF! We've been going over and over this book with a fine-toothed comb, checking italics, bolds, punctuation, and everything else to make it perfect, but if you happen to notice any error, please let us know!
On the downside, the layout artist working on Ultimate Faeries currently has COVID so with that and Christmas things might go a little more slowly getting the PF2 version finalized. We are continuing to work on the Roll20 version of Faerie Bestiary PF2 at the same time, so keeping the trains moving on parallel tracks.
David Ross is working now on the herbalism spread bonus material for Faerie Campaigns 5E and PF2. While we didn't approve the stretch goal for making a larger bonus book of herbalism for PF1, we have put it on our calendar as something we're planning to do early in the new year, and we'll keep you up to date on that.
Art orders are also going out this week for the PF2 monsters being converted back to PF1 for the Faerie Bestiary Companion, so we'll show those off as they start coming in!
Thanks once again for your support of this project. If you haven't already done your Backerkit survey, please do ASAP! If you are waiting until January to do yours due to cash flow or whatever other reasons, that's no problem. The surveys will remain open so you can get them when you need them. For all who can, get yours back so we can finalize numbers with the printer and keep things moving!
Merry Christmas and the happiest of whichever holidays you like from your friends at LG!
Smoke Test sent! Backer surveys coming this weekend! Here's answers to FAQs!
– Sun, Dec 18, 2022 at 01:01:48 AM
Hi all and thanks for your support on this project. The Backerkit setup required a little more time to get sorted out this time, but we have sent out the "Smoke Test" to 5% of our backers so that we can make sure everything is working smoothly and we're not seeing any glitches. Please check your email to see if you are one of the recipients, as your feedback is very much appreciated, and we need to see if there are any issues that need fixing!
Assuming we have no problems, we'll send out the backer survey to everyone tomorrow! Please reply ASAP with the requested information. This is a great time to add in any items you weren't sure about during the campaign but decided to add in now. We've also added some new options like Royal Tournaments for 5E, PF1, and PF2. It's also where shipping is charged and collected.
We've added some answers for specific questions below!
What if it asks me for my mailing address and I'm not getting any physical products? You don't need my address for that! This shouldn't happen, but it's happened before. If this happens to you, just enter a completely bogus address like 123 1st St., Nowhere, WA 98000, USA, phone number (000) 000-0000.
Can I usean email address forBackerkit that's different from my Kickstarter email address? You can. It'll make it a little trickier for us to reconcile our download spreadsheets from Kickstarter with those from Backerkit, but we can make it work.
When can I download things from Backerkit? Most people reply within the first week, so probably next Friday we'll "Lock orders" on the first wave of responses. Once orders are locked, you can't change your mind to add or subtract items. We'll then charge credit cards for any added items and for shipping. As soon as cards are charged, you'll be able to download all items that have been uploaded to Backerkit's system! As we upload further items as they get completed, we'll send out Kickstarter updates so you'll know when they're available, and everyone whose card has been successfully charged can download them.
What if I need to wait before doing my survey? While we appreciate people being as quick as they can be with replying so that we can finalize order numbers with printers, etc., we also appreciate that everyone has their own needs and situations. If for whatever reason you need to wait before doing your survey, that's fine. Most people will reply within the first week, which will get us pretty close to the numbers you need. If you need to wait until your next payday or whatever time you need, do what you need to do and submit your survey when you can. We'll check periodically to see when new surveys have come in, locking them and charging cards as they come in. You won't be able to download items until your survey is completed and locked (and charged for any shipping or extra items), but other than that you can process your survey when you need to.
What if I'm going to move? Right now, we are only locking your orders. We won't lock addresses until we are ready to start shipping rewards. We should be able to start shipping PF1 and PF2 rewards by around the end of January. We'll let you know when addresses will be locked. 5E items will ship later, because they are being printed overseas, but we'll send out an alert via Kickstarter to let you know when those shipments are ready to begin. If your address has changed after we lock addresses for early shipments, you can email me through Kickstarter or through Backerkit and let me know you need to change it and I can manually adjust your information.
Are you still sending out rewards through DrivethruRPG? We can still send those out, though with Backerkit ready that system is a lot more user-friendly as far as being able to manage your files and your downloads. Backerkit will be our primary place for setting up your downloads, but if you have a particular need for something on DrivethruRPG as well, let us know!
Thanks again and I look forward to getting your surveys back soon so we can get your orders locked in time for Christmas!
