Ultimate Rulership PF2 over 21,000 words! And Mediterranean Monsters 69 hours left!
over 1 year ago – Mon, Jul 24, 2023 at 05:43:42 PM

Hi all,

I've been getting a lot of work done on Ultimate Rulership (PF2) last week, and it keeps growing and growing just with the rulership. We are looking forward to putting together a great supplement and making plans for future supplements devoted specifically to mass combat and to cities and settlements! I thought I might get the book done last week but not quite; however, things are looking good for getting it to layout by the end of this week and then out to you shortly thereafter. This book includes 4 sections, dealing with Kingdom Basics, Leadership Roles, Kingdom Skill and Feats, and Advanced Rulership (including expanded rules for treaties, alliances, trade routes, and commodities)!

We also wanted to give a final shout-out to our Mediterranean Monsters 5E Bestiary Kickstarter project, which ends in just 69 hours on July 27th! With nearly 1000 backers already, this beautiful bestiary brings you over 140 amazing monsters from the marvelous mythologies of Greece, Italy, Malta, Sardinia, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya! Plus, we've unlocked a third adventure for the Greek-inspired Mother of Monsters Adventure Path, bringing that spectacular saga to 400 pages of killer content with the new adventures False Prophecies and A Threatened Democracy to really make the mythology of the Mediterranean come to life in an epic campaign! And if you missed out on our previous bestiaries, we'll be offering a Massive Monster Master Mega-Bundle of over 1,100 creatures and counting, nearly 1,500 pages of insane monstery goodness (and evilness) from around the world! If you've enjoyed any of our projects over the years, we hope you'll check it out and consider supporting this project! It all ENDS Thursday, July 27 so pledge today and DON'T MISS IT!

Faerie Campaigns 5E and PF2 print proofs reviewed and ready for printing!
over 1 year ago – Thu, Jul 13, 2023 at 11:38:48 PM

We received the sample pages and full inkjet "plotters" (a full-color test printout) for both versions of Faerie Campaigns this week and did a final proofing pass on every page. We found a few missing colons and bolds and a couple of minor edits were made, but those corrected pages are now back with the printer, as well as the final covers and bar codes, and we are ready to start printing both books next week! I'm including some pictures below so you can see the high-tech process involved in this final phase! :)

The top pages in each are full-color "ozalids," which are color-test sheets that appear as the final pages in the book will appear.
The inkjet plotters are lower resolution and lower-grade basic paper stock, so art looks darker than on the high-gloss final print stock, but it's perfect for a final text check.
And this would be your high-tech publisher going through page by page and marking pages that have something on them to fix, even if it's something as small as a missing punctuation mark.

When you've only got a few issues, it's easier to just have the layout artist export a fixed version of the individual pages rather than repackaging the entire book. You can see my note about the dark art, but looking at it on the ozalids it's fine so I crossed that one out. Page 30 is A-OK!

Hopefully some of you enjoyed this little behind-the-scenes peek at the process. Sometimes old-school visual checking with a Sharpie just helps you find things you didn't see the previous 50 times you looked at it on a screen. Hey, if it works, it works!

Last but not least, we've got two quick notes for you:

  • Ultimate Rulership (PF2): In any case, I'm looking forward to finishing up the "short version" of Ultimate Rulership PF2. The very large majority of backers for that particular book said they'd rather wait until later this year for a larger, more holistic ORC-friendly kingdom and warfare supplement (including a higher price tag for that extra content), so I think that's the direction we'll go for the most part. HOWEVER, some folks did ask for just getting the basic Ultimate Rulership expansion now, and that's what we proffered in the Kickstarter, so I'm going to have layout put together a PDF version of that (and a print-on-demand version, for those who just want a print version of the same) so that we can finalize that for backers and then we'll revisit the expanded version later on.
  • On Mediterranean Monsters: We've just passed the halfway point in this project and are now over 900% of our funding goal, adding a new creature from Tunisia to the book, and our next stretch goal unlocks another adventure for the Mother of Monsters Adventure Path! For our PF1 and PF2 fans, we are happy to report that both of those versions are humming along nicely, with over a dozen Pathfinder monsters coming in over the last week. We are definitely looking forward to hosting that Quick-Starter later this year! We just wanted to show off some of the new creatures added to the book since we launched! We'd love to have any of our 5E fans climb aboard this latest monster and adventure project; it all ends July 27th!
Some of the creatures added through stretch goals include (clockwise, from left) the fata (Italy), bicho cidrao (Portugal), lamia matriarch (Greece), ramidreju (Spain), and barlat lakbour (Morocco)!

Faerie Bestiary (PF2) Modules are ready! And Mediterranean Monsters continues!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Jul 07, 2023 at 02:29:29 PM

Hi all,

We are delighted to report that we have finalized the Faerie Bestiary for Pathfinder 2E on Foundry, and the activation codes have been sent out through Backerkit and should be available in your downloads! It took a bit navigating the always-evolving VTT upload system after we got the modules finished in late June, but everything is where it needs to be and we hope you love this fantastic VTT supplement for your campaign and spread the good word to all of your fellow PF2 fans!

P.S. We're continuing to find through our big pile of Mediterranean Monsters for PF2, with ten MORE new stat blocks coming in this week! As we've noted, we're looking forward to running a second Kickstarter later this year for both PF1 and PF2 versions of this book. For any of our 5E fans (or fans who play multiple systems), we definitely encourage you to check out our Mediterranean Monsters bestiary and Mother of Monsters Adventure Path Kickstarter live right now!

Ultimate Rulership PF2 - original flavor PF2 or PF2.1 ORC?
over 1 year ago – Thu, Jun 29, 2023 at 06:48:12 PM

Hi all,

One of my many juggling balls has been grinding as I can on Ultimate Rulership for PF2, the last piece of the Ultimate Faeries project. However, there are two stick questions that I've been noodling on and wanted to reach out to you, the backers, and see what your thoughts are on this:

1.  Ultimate Rulership vs. Ultimate Battle/War: In the PF1 rules, the original Ultimate Rulership *only* covered kingdom rulership actions, rules, etc. All of the expansions we did for mass combat came in later products like Ultimate Battle and Ultimate War. At the moment, the new optional kingdom rules and extras in PF2 Ultimate Rulership are pretty close to done. What I haven't made much progress on is the mass combat related bonus rules and options. In my mind, I had thought maybe we could put both into this PF2 Ultimate Rulership, but maybe I'm overthinking it and just need to let Ultimate Rulership get *done* as the book that it is and then do a followup PF2 Ultimate Battle/War book. That way, you can get the rulership book *now* and then I can work on the mass combat stuff as I'm able and come back to that later without everyone having to wait for both pieces.

2.  Ultimate Rulership for PF2 original recipe or 2.1 ORC version? While the new ORC version of PF2 is intended to be compatible with the 2019 vintage, there also are a number of key rules changes, and while Ultimate Rulership was originally designed with the 2019 version in mind, there's something to be said for the idea of revising it to conform to the new 2023 ORC standards.

For any of our PF2 backers out there, what are your thoughts on these questions?

P.S. We're continuing to find through our big pile of Mediterranean Monsters for PF2, with a dozen new stat blocks coming in just today! We're looking forward to running a second Kickstarter later this year for both PF1 and PF2 versions of this book. For any of our 5E fans (or fans who play multiple systems), we definitely encourage you to check out our Mediterranean Monsters bestiary and Mother of Monsters Adventure Path Kickstarter live right now!

Minis Mailed and Mediterranean Monsters are LIVE!
over 1 year ago – Tue, Jun 27, 2023 at 03:16:49 PM

Hi all,

Three quick notes for you!

1.  Minis: We recently mailed out about 25-30 packages of our 3D minis and our Arcknight flat plastic minis to US-based backers. Because USPS Media Mail does not allow shipment of non-media products, and because trying to ship the 3D minis in the same box with books is likely to lean to breakage (minis are fragile, books are not, as we learned from test shipments), we asked our mini-maker for suggestions on packaging and he sent us a link to the boxes he uses, and we've sent them out to you! For international customers, your orders are weight-based rather than category-based, so we'll be sending your minis in a separate box-inside-a-box to protect them from damage when your shipments are ready to go.

2.  Faerie Campaigns: Speaking of books, Faerie Campaigns PF1 and 5E are both in the back-and-forth process of finalizing the print proofs, moving this a millimeter, checking that overlap of text vs. art, etc., but we should be very close to getting those finalized for print and receiving our samples to show off!

3.  Mediterranean Monsters: Last but certainly not least, we launched our Mediterranean Monsters Kickstarterjust 3 hours ago and we're already well past double our funding goal and unlocking stretch goals along the way! The first run of this KS is for 5E only, incorporating both this bodacious bestiary and also the newly expanded Mother of Monsters Adventure Path, but we're also working on the PF1 and PF2 versions at the same time and will be running a follow-up KS later this year for those versions of this book. If you've enjoyed our marvelous monster books and more, we hope you'll check it out for over 120 (hopefully 150 with stretch goals) killer creatures from southern Europe and northern Africa!

Thanks for all your support and here's a quick preview of just one of the creatures you'll find within!
